Filling in the online application form
Use the links at the bottom of the screen to move through the sections of the application form. When you move to a new section, your answers will be saved so that you can return to them later. When all sections are complete, you can submit your application. You will not be able to modify your application once it has been submitted.

After you have completed the first section of the application you will be given a reference number. Use this with your date of birth that you supplied to log in to this site again. If your application is incomplete, you can carry on filling it in. If it is complete and has been approved, you can then bid for properties.

More detailed information on the application process is available below.

You may have been taken to this page whilst in the middle of completing the form. This is because your session timed out. Log in again to continue.
Renting property
Completing this application form will put you on the central housing list for social housing in Exeter. You will have access to information about homes available for rent or sale belonging to all the partnerships landlords, as you would do on the private market.

Within two weeks of returning your application form, you will receive a pack welcoming you to Exeter Home Choice. The pack will provide you with a housing register number and the colour of the band you have been placed in. Keep these details handy, as you will need them later.

Once you have received this information, you will be able to start looking for your accommodation. Each week available homes will be advertised from Thursday until the following Wednesday in the Civic Centre Customer Service Reception and on the Exeter Home Choice website. The properties will also be advertised every Thursday in the Express and Echo in the property section.

You will need to let us know if you are interested in a home. However, the home must be in the same band as you and must be of a suitable size.

You will be able to let us know if you are interested in a home over our automated phone system or via our website, by text or in person at the civic centre.

Once we have stopped advertising the properties, we will create a list of who has told us they are interested. We will then contact the person who has the longest waiting time and they will then be able to visit that property.

Don't worry if any of this sounds complicated. More detailed information will be sent in your welcome pack.
Shared ownership property
You will need to show on the application form that you're interested in shared ownership and you will need to provide us with proof that you will be able to afford your share of the mortgage.

The process of looking for properties is then the same as looking for rented properties. There is one difference though: Shared Ownership properties will not be given a band, so you can let us know you are interested in them whatever band you are in.
Completing the application form
You will need to complete all the questions in all sections on the application form that are relevant to you.

Some questions ask you to provide supporting information on a separate sheet. If the form indicates you need supporting information, your application will not be processed until we receive the information.

You will need to provide us with truthful, accurate answers. We will follow up the answer you gave us and if it is found you have not told the truth, your application will be cancelled.

At the end of the application form there are a series of declarations. You need to read and understand these before you sign the form.
